Exhibit in a Duffel Bag

Eventually my MFA thesis project will be a traveling digital interactive art show to areas without easy access to Fine Arts or STEM and maker tech that don't tend to appeal to most traveling events. I aim to create several projects in the process that can be repeated at low cost and move more readily than bigger installation shows.

Presenting "Restoring the Void" at UFVA in New Mexico gave me my first shot at it. Inside a single duffel bag is everything needed to put up a 7 x 7 × 8 blackout box where you can play the game in isolation thanks to small loud speakers blasting three hum of voidness. Also in the duffel bag is a laptop, a projector, and a large format 11x17 photo printer that will automatically print out gameplay imagery. The more expensive text stuff will travel with me in a carry-on though.

It's heavy. Maybe 100 + pounds, there's no way I'm not paying a surcharge when I fly out. Maybe if I tag them in this they'll be like, "yeah let's support the Arts and not charge him a bunch". But still, it's a hell of a start and I'm super pleased every component of a completely immersive projection gameplay environment fits in that one duffel.
