TouchDesigner: Dome Warping Tool

I'm presenting work at COSI Dome Lab in Columbus this week. So I've been bringing lots of work together in a single (gigantic) Touch Network to prepare it for dome projection.

I've been playing with mirrored dome projection a little bit this year. It's pretty fun, but the problem is image warping from the curved mirror. You have to warp it from the output to get it looking not-super-wonky, but that is difficult. This network tool is my first go at it. The warping is not on yet. It's just in the test phase because I have not had the chance to test it on a full dome.

Currently, this version is integrated with a few other projects I've been working on including Generative Gamer, and the Inflatable Projection Button that is part of my installation-in-progress Projection Play Place. I plan to work on this over the summer to create a tool I will share for free on the TouchDesigner Forum.

Sorry there is no project file for this up yet. The warping is just guess work right now. I'll need to tweak the warping when I actually present this at COSI this week. But,  the goal for this tool is to be a straight plug and play dome warping tool for several kinds of domes including full planetarium domes and especially the DIY mirror dome setup most of us can do at home.

If you want to check out Dome Lab - It's from 7 -9pm on the last Wednesday of every month at COSI in Columbus. It's free to come and anyone is allowed to bring in work to preview on their huge planetarium dome. If you're looking to test out a bigger project (like this) you can talk to the coordinators and schedule a date to put it up. Their facebook group is the best way to get in contact.
